62-year-old woman has a macular hole in the left eye. Her vision is worse than when she was here 1 month ago with a 100 micron hole VISUAL ACUITY: OS 20/100. IOP: 15. The posterior chamber intraocular lens is in good position. EXTENDED OPHTHALMOSCOPY: OS: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.3. There is a 300 micron macular hole. OCT SCAN: The OCT scan confirms a slightly enlarged macular hole. IMPRESSION: 1. MACULAR HOLE – LEFT EYE DISCUSSION: I explained to the patient with vitrectomy we can have a 90-95% chance of closing the macular hole. I have her scheduled for surgery next week. I will keep you abreast of her progress. Post op OCT shows closed hole and va improved to 20/30
