Multiple Evanescent White Spot Syndrome - MEWDS - RECURRENT

16 year old girl who saw me during her second episode of left eye vision loss. She lost vision in the left eye a few years ago and she saw you at that time. Then she had a similar episode just a week ago and she noticed that she could not see well out of the left eye. She thought maybe she was dehydrated and her vision kept getting wrose and worse. You saw her yesterday with uveitis and suggested that she come here for an evaluation. The patient saw you initially and then for a 6 month follow-up. She has not had trouble since those first visits (in 2014) until this last episode. You ordered blood work and they tried to get it done this morning and the lab was very backed up so she did not get the tests done yet. She had a flu shot in October. The prior episode might also have been post flu vaccine. She had findings on the first visit of old MEWDS in the left eye - OCT showed outer retinal atrophy - she had presented 3 months following her symptoms. On the second visit, which was shortly after vision loss, she presented with all the findings typical of left eye MEWDS.

Recurrent MEWDS Left Eye - Teenage Girl568 viewsPatient presented in 2014 (first images) 2 months following vision loss left eye. Vision went from 20/60 - 20/20. OCT showed outer retinal irregularities which normalized. Then 3 years later in 2017 she had full blown MEWDS. She presented acutely and all the images are typical. Both episodes where in the same time of year, about 3 months after her flu shot for sports.

16 year old girl who saw me during her second episode of left eye vision loss. She lost vision in the left eye a few years ago and she saw you at that time. Then she had a similar episode just a week ago and she noticed that she could not see well out of the left eye. She thought maybe she was dehydrated and her vision kept getting wrose and worse. You saw her yesterday with uveitis and suggested that she come here for an evaluation. The patient saw you initially and then for a 6 month follow-up. She has not had trouble since those first visits (in 2014) until this last episode. You ordered blood work and they tried to get it done this morning and the lab was very backed up so she did not get the tests done yet. She had a flu shot in October. The prior episode might also have been post flu vaccine. She had findings on the first visit of old MEWDS in the left eye - OCT showed outer retinal atrophy - she had presented 3 months following her symptoms. On the second visit, which was shortly after vision loss, she presented with all the findings typical of left eye MEWDS.
