65 year old man : 5 days ago he woke up with blurred vision in the right eye and a headache. He had a history of heart problems for which he was taking an injectable statin drug and he was concerned it might be a side effect of that. The patient then had an eye photograph with his wife's optometrist Dr. Salta who did not find anything wrong. The patient woke up the next morning, Saturday with a headache and numbness down his left arm. He had a lot of tests, MRI of the head and Orbit and CT scan. He saw Dr. Mendelblatt Sunday night at 8:30 PM and did an eye test with portable equipment and could not see much. Monday, 2 days ago, he had no results or problems and the patient was given migraine medicine injections. Then the patient was released from the hospital and saw you yesterday and you suggested that the patient come here. There was a little swelling in the retina and the patient was referred here. He was scheduled for Friday and asked to come in today for a check.He has not been sick in the last few months. He sees a blurred spot in the vision in the right eye which is still there. He has not been exposed to any cats in the last 3 months. His sister had MacTel and it might also run in the family. There was AMD in several of the older relative. He has pain on eye movement. He has had two exposures to cats he owns several rentals and has had one with fleas and one kitten that touched him. He might have felt a little sick after this. VA OD: sc20/63+2 PH20/32-1 NccJ3-3 VA OS: sc20/25-1 NccJ1+-1 Serology for cat scratch was negative x 2 and his work up was positive for HLA B51 - uveitis specialist felt this was cat scratch and treated with doxycyline. He did get better slowly with near normal vision and anatomy in 2 months (he got worse then better)
