Cat Scratch - Bartonella henselae IgG and IgM Positive - Retinitis 27 year old female 6 days ago she noticed she had a very bad headache and she was home trying to fix her makeup and she had the left eye closed and could not see out of the right eye. Since then she has pain behind the right eye. She has poor circulation and her hands sometimes fall asleep. In February she had a fever but did not see a doctor. (2 months ago) She had cold sweats throughout the night which lasted for just a few days. She started dating someone who has a cat for the past few months (they started seeing each other in January). She usually avoids cats because she is allergic. The cat had fleas.I have her tests which were done in the ER on two visits. Her MRI scan was negative (MS was a concern). Also, her blood work showed a slightly elevated white count with a neutropenia which was mild. The rest of her CMP and blood count was normal. Her urine catch was abnormal but had a normal culture. It had multiple epithelial cells. There were ketones and red cells in the urine. I'll have this rechecked and make sure she follows-up on the UA. VA OD: scCF 4ft PHNI NscUnable VA OS: sc20/25 NscJ1+ The right eye has disc edema and the left eye has retinitis - She was treated with Doxycycline 100 mg BID and vision returned to normal in a few months
