The example attached with this memo is a case in which the patient died about 6 to 8 weeks after the artery occlusion, and he had no history of glaucoma. The inner retina atrophy, which looks very similar to that caused by COAG, is due to recent infarct. The histological distinction between the inner retinal atrophy of RAO (branch or central) from OAG is subtle, but can be made under ideal conditions.
