Last additions - Laser - Panretinal Photocoagulation - Heavy and Macular Edema

51-year-old woman has had extensive laser in both eyes done years ago elsewhere. Her left eye has gradually been declining with macular edema. VISUAL ACUITY: OD 20/40, OS 20/40. IOP: OS 10. The left eye has a posterior chamber intraocular lens in good position with an open capsule. EXTENDED OPHTHALMOSCOPY: OS: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.0. There is edema temporal to the fovea with a microaneurysm there. OCT SCAN: The OCT scan confirms worsening macular edema. The fluorescein shows leakage from acute parafoveal microaneurysms in the left eye. Photos confirm clinical findings. IMPRESSION: 1. MACULAR EDEMA – LEFT EYE 2. PROLIFERATIVE DIABETIC RETINOPATHY – LEFT EYE 3. LEAKY MICROANEURYSMS – LEFT EYE DISCUSSION: I explained to the patient that with focal laser we may be able to dry out the macula in the left eye and reduce the risk of further vision loss. I treated her today without any difficulty.
