Last additions - Retinal Pigment Epithelial Rip - 20/40 visual acuity after 2 years treatment 82-year-old woman has age-related macular degeneration in the left eye. She developed a pigment epithelial rip in the macula and remarkably her vision is improved with 2 years of treatment. She has not had injections now for almost the last year. VISUAL ACUITY: OS 20/40. IOP: 16. The left eye has a posterior chamber intraocular lens is in good position. EXTENDED OPHTHALMOSCOPY: OS: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.3. There is a pigment epithelial tear in the fovea. OCT SCAN: The OCT scan shows the macula to be dry. Photos confirm clinical findings. IMPRESSION: 1. RETINAL PIGMENT EPITHELIAL TEAR- LEFT EYE 2. INVOLUTED SUBFOVEAL CHOROIDAL NEOVASCULAR MEMBRANE – LEFT EYE 3. REMARKABLY GOOD VISION DISCUSSION: I explained to the patient the macula in the left eye has dried out nicely. Her vision is remarkably good. 3 years after this photo, vision had improved to 20/25!
