Most viewed - Silicone Oil in Anterior Chamber - Band Keratopathy 81-year-old man had complex retinal detachment repairs in both eyes with silicone oil 8 years ago. Ultimately the vision in the right eye is reasonable. He can get around but he still only sees about 20/200. The left eye has an oil fill. He had a retinotomy very near to the macula and he has had silicone oil in the eye for a few years. His eye is comfortable and the vision is stable.
VISUAL ACUITY: Vision OD is 20/200, OS is light perception. IOP: OD 10, OS 4. The right eye has posterior chamber intraocular lens in good position. The left eye has band keratopathy as well as oil droplets in the anterior chamber.
EXTENDED OPHTHALMOSCOPY:
OD: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.7. The retina is attached. The macula is flat.
OS: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.3. There is a difficult view but the retina is attached under oil.
OCT SCAN: The OCT scan of the right eye shows central foveal thickness of 208 microns.
IMPRESSION:
1. STATUS POST COMPLEX RETINAL DETACHMENT REPAIRS – BOTH EYES
2. BAND KERATOPATHY – LEFT EYE
DISCUSSION: I explained to the patient the right eye looks stable and lovely. His vision, unfortunately, seems to have topped out at 20/200. He was seeing 20/80 at one point in that eye and he was even down to 20/60 in 2008. I would appreciate it if you could check him to see if possibly a change in prescription would help the right eye.
